IN AN EMERGENCY, SEEK IMMEDIATE MEDICAL ATTENTION OR CALL 911. Vuret’s platform is not intended for medical
emergencies.
The following provides important safety and risk information for the active ingredients commonly used in the
compounded prescription treatments offered through the Vuret platform.
General Notice Regarding Compounded Medications: Vuret prescriptions are typically for compounded
medications, prepared by a licensed compounding pharmacy partner. Compounded drugs are not FDA-approved. This
means the FDA does not review these specific formulations for safety, effectiveness, or quality. While the
individual active ingredients used are well-established, the specific compounded combinations themselves have not
undergone large-scale clinical trials.
1. Sexual Wellness Treatments (Sildenafil & Tadalafil)
Sildenafil and Tadalafil are PDE5 inhibitors. They belong to a class of medications used to treat Erectile
Dysfunction (ED).
Contraindications (Who should NOT take these medications):
Do not take PDE5 inhibitors if you take any medications called nitrates (e.g., nitroglycerin,
isosorbide dinitrate), often prescribed for chest pain, or guanylate cyclase stimulators like riociguat
(Adempas) for pulmonary hypertension. Taking these together can cause an unsafe drop in blood pressure.
Do not take if you are allergic to sildenafil, tadalafil, or any of the inactive ingredients in the compound.
Warnings and Precautions:
Cardiovascular Health: Sexual activity can put extra strain on your heart. Discuss your heart
health with your provider. If you experience chest pain, dizziness, or nausea during sex, stop immediately and
seek emergency medical care.
Priapism: Erections lasting longer than 4 hours could cause permanent damage to the penis.
Seek immediate emergency medical assistance if this occurs.
Sudden Vision Loss: In rare instances, patients taking PDE5 inhibitors have reported a sudden
decrease or loss of vision in one or both eyes (NAION). Stop taking the medication and seek medical help right
away.
Sudden Hearing Loss: Stop taking the medication and seek medical help if you experience a
sudden decrease or loss of hearing, sometimes accompanied by ringing in the ears or dizziness.
Blood Pressure: PDE5 inhibitors can lower blood pressure. Use caution if taking
alpha-blockers or other anti-hypertensive medications.
Common Side Effects:
Headache
Flushing
Upset stomach or indigestion
Abnormal vision (e.g., changes in color vision, blurred vision)
Nasal congestion or runny nose
Back pain and muscle aches
Dizziness
This is not a complete list of side effects. Discuss all potential risks with your healthcare provider.
2. Nail Health Treatments (Itraconazole, Terbinafine & DMSO)
The Vuret topical nail solution contains antifungal agents (like Itraconazole and Terbinafine) along with Dimethyl
Sulfoxide (DMSO) to enhance penetration of the active ingredients through the nail bed.
Contraindications:
Do not use if you are allergic to itraconazole, terbinafine, DMSO, or other azole antifungals.
Due to the potential for systemic absorption when combined with DMSO, do not use if you have evidence of
ventricular dysfunction, such as congestive heart failure (CHF) or a history of CHF.
Warnings and Precautions:
Systemic Absorption: While applied topically, DMSO is highly effective at carrying
medications through the skin and nail. This means the active antifungal ingredients may reach your bloodstream.
Consequently, the risks associated with oral antifungals must be considered.
Hepatotoxicity (Liver Damage): Rare but serious liver toxicity, including liver failure, has
been associated with both terbinafine and itraconazole use. Stop using the medication and contact a provider if
you develop symptoms of liver problems (unexplained fatigue, nausea, anorexia, jaundice, dark urine, or pale
stools).
Heart Failure Risks: Itraconazole has been associated with heart failure. Report any signs of
heart failure (shortness of breath, swelling of feet or ankles, unusual weight gain) immediately.
Drug Interactions: Because these ingredients may be absorbed systemically, they can interact
with other medications you are taking, including statins, certain blood pressure medications, and medications
that prolong the QT interval. Ensure your medical provider has a complete list of your current medications.
Skin Irritation: The application site may experience irritation, redness, burning, or a
strong garlic-like odor (commonly associated with DMSO).
Common Side Effects:
Local skin irritation, redness, or burning at the application site
Odor on the skin or breath (due to DMSO)
Dryness or peeling of the surrounding skin
This is not a complete list of side effects. Discuss all potential risks with your healthcare provider.
